* Versions 2.46.0104 and later add calcite norm for carbonatite compositions
Versions 2.47.0115 and later add phaneritic (plutonic) rock classifications
Versions 2.48.0117 and later correct an error in Ac normative calculation
Versions 2.49.0122 and later correct an error in normalizing oxide abundances greater than 100 wt%
Versions 2.49.0126 and later correct grain density calculation for rocks with high phenocryst abundance
Magma (Magma.pdf) is a simple utility that calculates silicate magma/lava classifications and properties from user-entered major-element compositions. The following screen shot shows results for a typical andesite pumice (tephra), which has 0.1 wt% H2O. CIPW Norms, classifications, density, texture, and viscosities are calculated.
